Draining the pressure tank

I've got one...

What is the best way to drain a pressure tank? I disconnected mine today, and opened all the valves to drain as much as I could, but I could hear more sloshing around inside. I was shaking it over my head for a while (surprisingly heavy for a hollow cylinder...), but couldn't get it all out.

You'd think there would be a drain plug on the bottom, but no such luck. There's already a hairline crack in the copper pipe coming out of the base of the tank, and I don't want it to get bigger, or worse, it might rupture the pressure bladder. (You'd be amazed how much water can spray out of a near invisible crack; you'd be more amazed by the shockingly poor quality of the shoddy "temporary" repair job I did.)

Anybody got a secret technique?

Thanks,

Derek

I don't reckon I'd call it a secret technique but I have noticed that, even after I've done all I possibly can to empty the tank, once I bring it inside it starts to drip steadily.

I figure it must be because the added warmth causes the bladder to expand and forces out more water. Maybe you could put it beside a heater and see what happens?
